Hello, fellow warriors of life!
Ever feel like you’re swimming upstream? You try to make a change, start something new, and boom! You encounter resistance. It feels like a headwind that just won’t let up. However, let’s not start bashing resistance. After all, it’s a universal experience. Don’t believe me? Just ask your gym trainer, or the prolific author Steven Pressfield who dubbed resistance as the “enemy within” in his masterpiece “The War of Art.”
Resistance, my friends, is not the ogre under the bridge you need to conquer; it’s the bridge itself, the very thing that gets you to the other side – the side of growth and change. I’m no Newton, but if his third law taught me anything, it’s that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Think about that for a second. It means, when we push against life, it’s bound to push back. Not because it’s mean or cruel, but because that’s the law!
Now, let’s flip the script on resistance. Instead of dreading it, let’s embrace it. Imagine this: Resistance is your future self, sending a telegram to the present you. It reads, “Hey buddy, if you want to get where I am, you need to show me you’re ready.” It’s testing you, pushing you to prove your commitment to your goal. Resistance isn’t the villain; it’s the guard at the gate of your dream, asking you for the password.
So, are you ready to give resistance a bear hug? The next time you encounter it, smile and say, “I see you. I’m ready. Let’s do this.” Remember, only when you overcome resistance do you evolve, becoming a better, stronger version of yourself.
Stay fierce, stay resolute. Let’s turn our battleground into a playground.
Ohh and by the way, If you wanna get more into it, mark your calendars this fall 2023 for the premiere of the new podcast “The Fearless Road” which dives deep into all of this yummy resistance stuff. Join me and my guests in getting vulnerable and breaking boundaries!
